Environmental Health

The Division of Environmental Health plays a major role in public health today by protecting everything from the food we eat to the water we drink. The division is your local resource for environmental services, advice and information.

In 2015, we look forward to changes and additions to our programs. Household Sewage Treatment System Rules have been revised.

Our professional staff strives daily to eliminate risks in the environment that may make Pike Countians ill by ensuring legal compliance pertaining to the following programs: food protection, private sewage disposal systems, land use, infectious waste, pool and spa safety, private water systems, camps and parks, solid waste, tattoo and body piercing program, and vector control. Much of this work is accomplished by performing routine inspections and investigations; conducting workshops and seminars; and taking enforcement action when warranted.

An equally important function of the Environmental Health Division is to provide timely advice and information to the public, businesses, and other governmental agencies.

From Emergency Response to nuisance complaints, you can be assured that the Pike County General Health District Environmental Health Staff is here to serve and protect Pike County.
